The Telangana High Court rejected a PIL against the release of the movie RRR. The plea alleged that the filmmakers were incorrectly portraying the freedom fighter Alluri Seetarama Raju and defaming his image.
RRR was originally scheduled to debut in theaters on January 7th, has been postponed due to a rise in COVID-19 cases.
It was already delayed and now ‘Alluri Sowmya’, a student from Andhra Pradesh, has submitted a Public Interest Petition (PIL) against the movie RRR, alleging that it misrepresents historical events. As per the sources, Sowmya has requested a restraining order on the film's release and for the censorship certificate to be withheld.
Alluri Sowmya has initiated a PIL against the producers of the film in the Telangana High Court, alleging that it is ruining the history of Alluri Sita Ramaraju and Komaram Bheem.
The Telangana High Court directed several internet service providers to block websites that promote or facilitate piracy of RRR and served them with notices. Furthermore, the court instructed the police to take appropriate measures against those who indulge in piracy of the film.
Tollywood.net reported that, according to the complainant, the makers of the film allegedly distorted the illustrious history of the independence fighters ‘Komaram Bheem’ and ‘Alluri Sita Ramaraju’, who are portrayed by Ram Charan and Jr NTR, in an attempt to insult the true heroes and their supporters. The complainant further claimed that the movie negatively showing our freedom fighters heroes Alluri Sita Ramaraju and Komaram Bheem.
RRR has achieved the third-highest-grossing Indian movie worldwide, with a total box office collection of nearly Rs. 1,200 crore.
